You can mix monitor connector types without buying adapters solely to make every screen identical. The current version supports three 4K displays at 60Hz when its native channel receives a suitable DP 1.4 Alt Mode signal. A DP 1.2 host reduces that native channel to 4K30; the two DisplayLink channels follow a different path.

Check which generation is in the listing

Plugable documents an original version and an updated version introduced in 2022. The current catalog entry has three HDMI/DisplayPort pairs and up to 100W host charging, with 96W certification. Do not carry specifications from the newer version into a used listing that shows the older connector layout.

Choose this for workspace, not just pixel counts

A three-screen research or administration desk can benefit from the connection choice and card reader. A buyer whose key task is color-critical work or protected streaming should investigate a native-video alternative. DisplayLink requires software and has workload limitations; a large maximum resolution does not remove them. The display architecture matters more than the number printed on the box.
