Four monitors is a Windows configuration

StarTech documents quad 4K60 on suitable Windows laptops with Intel 12th-generation or later processors and DisplayPort 1.4 DSC. The dock uses MST as part of that arrangement. An older or differently configured machine cannot be assigned the same result solely because it has a Thunderbolt-shaped USB-C port.

For Macs, the manufacturer documents a maximum of two external displays on supported configurations. Base M1 and M2 systems retain a one-display limit; this is not DisplayLink. M3 configurations have their own closed-lid conditions. Identify the complete chip name before comparing docks because a Pro-branded laptop does not necessarily contain a Pro-tier processor.

Use 98W in the power calculation

The listing headline rounds charging to 100W, while the official datasheet repeatedly specifies 98W host Power Delivery from the included 180W supply. We use the documented 98W value. The difference is small, but keeping input and output figures separate prevents larger mistakes elsewhere in the shortlist.

USB accessories, SD and microSD media, 2.5GbE and a headset can remain attached to the desk. The DisplayPort outputs do not support passive DisplayPort adapters, so include appropriate active conversion hardware if your monitors require it. This dock is most compelling when its connection mix solves an actual desk inventory. The maximum-display headline alone leaves too much of the purchasing decision unanswered.
