Consider it for
- A Thunderbolt workstation needing NVMe expansion
- Many permanent peripherals and 2.5GbE
Check before buying
- SSD capacity support does not include an SSD
- Maximum display and charging modes require matching host capabilities
The storage slot is capacity support, not included storage
UGREEN specifies support for an NVMe drive up to 8TB. That does not mean an 8TB SSD comes with the dock. Check the supported drive dimensions and heatsink clearance for the SSD you plan to install, then include the drive in the overall cost. The enclosure and the selected SSD remain separate purchasing decisions.
Check the exact configuration and included power supply.
Check on AmazonSeparate host power from the system budget
Manufacturer documentation lists up to 140W to a PD 3.1-capable laptop and a 240W power supply for the overall unit. Three USB-A and three USB-C data ports, 2.5GbE and card readers give this dock a role in an equipment-heavy workstation. Confirm which connections you use together rather than assuming all headline rates are additive.
Treat the display plan as its own specification
The output choices include downstream Thunderbolt and DisplayPort. Triple extended operation requires the documented Thunderbolt 5 host conditions; Mac display arrangements remain model-specific. The listing also calls for active conversion when using its DisplayPort connection with HDMI. We leave unsupported combinations unconfirmed rather than transferring an advertised single-screen 8K mode to every multi-screen layout. Choose the computer, displays and necessary cables as a complete configuration.
