Consider it for
- A Thunderbolt desk with USB-C display connections
- Keeping several USB-A devices attached
Check before buying
- HDMI monitors require suitable conversion
- 85W host charging may be below laptop recommendation
Plan the screen cables first
Display connections use the downstream Thunderbolt sockets. An HDMI-only monitor therefore needs a suitable adapter or cable in your budget. The listing describes dual 4K at 60Hz on supported computers; the laptop’s native display capabilities still decide which arrangement is available. Do not treat the Thunderbolt badge as permission to exceed the host limit.
Check the exact configuration and included power supply.
Check on AmazonAn 85W host output, not 140W
The supplied power adapter is listed at 140W, while charging delivered to the laptop is specified up to 85W. That distinction makes the Max 208 easier to compare with other docks. Check your computer’s recommended adapter rating before expecting it to replace the original power supply during demanding work.
Use the remaining ports deliberately
Three USB-A 10Gbps connections and Gigabit Ethernet give an existing keyboard, mouse and wired network somewhere to stay attached. List those permanent connections before ordering. If most accessories already use USB-C, compare the cost of adapting them against a different dock rather than buying the larger number on the box. We have not measured throughput or sleep-and-wake behavior on this unit.
