Consider it for
- A desk centered on Thunderbolt monitors or storage
- Users needing several downstream Thunderbolt ports
Check before buying
- No built-in HDMI, DisplayPort, Ethernet, or card reader
- Native host display-count limits remain
Choose it for the connections it actually supplies
The fifth port is USB-A. There is no built-in Ethernet, card reader, HDMI, or full-size DisplayPort output. That is a sensible tradeoff when your monitor and storage already use Thunderbolt, but it can become an adapter-heavy arrangement if the rest of your desk uses legacy connections.
Check the exact configuration and included power supply.
Check on AmazonDisplay support still starts at the computer
Belkin lists up to dual 4K60 or a single 8K30 display on supported systems. A computer’s native external-display restriction remains in force; this hub does not use DisplayLink to work around it. Check how the exact monitor connects, including whether an adapter occupies one of the downstream Thunderbolt ports.
Use the power specification in the context of the desk
The included supply supports up to 96W host charging, with downstream charging available for attached devices. That may let a suitable laptop arrive at the desk with one cable. Before purchase, count the ordinary USB devices and adapters you would add. A larger dock may occupy less total desk space if it replaces several external adapters you would otherwise need.
