Anker Docking Stations: Compare Prime, Nano and USB-C Hubs

Anker’s range spans a small HDMI hub, a dock with a removable travel adapter, and larger Prime models that combine desk connectivity with accessory charging. Those formats answer different questions. A portable hub is useful when you carry the connections; a powered dock is useful when the connections remain at the desk.

Pay close attention to the distinction between power input and power delivered to the laptop. Several Anker hubs accept a 100W charger while reserving part of that input for themselves. Prime models also separate data sockets from charging-only sockets, so the largest port count does not automatically provide the most flexibility for your accessories.

Display behavior is equally model-specific. The Prime DL7400 uses DisplayLink software; other USB-C models use native video and may mirror external displays on a Mac. The Prime TB5 has explicit older-host exclusions and shared HDMI/DisplayPort output. Compare those conditions against your laptop and monitors before deciding which Anker family suits the desk.

Choosing within Anker

  • Compare net laptop wattage, not total power-input marketing.
  • Read the simultaneous display mode rather than a single-port 4K or 8K headline.
  • Use the exact A-series model code to distinguish similar product names.

Anker 332 5-in-1 A8355

The Anker 332 is a straightforward way to add one HDMI screen, a few USB peripherals, and pass-through charging. It avoids the extra connectors of a large desktop dock, which is helpful when your actual setup is equally simple.

The Anker 553 brings two HDMI outputs into a small hub, but the two outputs solve different problems on Windows and macOS. A Windows setup can extend separate desktops when the host supports the required video path; a Mac repeats the same content on both external screens.

A mixed pair of monitors is a natural reason to consider the Anker 565: it has one HDMI and one DisplayPort socket instead of forcing two identical connectors. Its small format also collects audio, wired networking, and memory-card access.

The Anker 575 suits a desk that needs power, networking, card access, and several display connector choices in one box. The display arrangement uses the laptop’s native USB-C video capability rather than a software-driven DisplayLink workaround.
